Artscape, Evergreen CityWorks, Wychwood Barns Community Association and Councillor Joe Mihevc are are partnering to host a series of Round Tables in May. Each Round Table will be opened with a presentation by thought leaders in the respective fields. 

On May 19th we have:

1. Councillor Joe Mihevc, Ward 21

Joe Mihevc has served as City Councillor for the former City of York and the new City of Toronto. Joe has an M.A. and a Ph.D. in Theology and Social Ethics. He serves in a variety of capacities that allow him to demonstrate his concerns for social issues, as well as democratic, accessible, and responsible government. Joe is a Commissioner on the TTC Board and is presently chair of the Board of Health, where he has championed the City’s Student Nutrition Program, among many other public health initiatives. Joe has been an active member of the Community Development and Recreation Committee, advancing a local poverty reduction strategy and supporting additional services for the homeless, for   women, and for LGBT youth. Joe is a recipient of numerous awards and honours recognizing his commitment to diversity, public health, and community engagement. Joe is passionate about social justice, capacity building, and environmental sustainability.

2. Alejandra Bravo from Maytree Foundation

Alejandra Bravo is Manager of Leadership Programs at Maytree, a private Canadian charitable committed to reducing poverty and inequality in Canada and to building strong civic communities. Alejandra designs and delivers training for emerging leaders to actively participate in civic and political life. Alejandra is a member of the Toronto District School Board’s Inner City Advisory Committee, advisor to Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives’ Ontario and Art Starts. She is a past director of the Toronto Board of Health and of the Canadian Hispanic Congress. Alejandra volunteers as a board member, mentor and trainer with a number of organizations that focus on youth, immigrant integration, and civic participation.
