What is the perspective of suburban residents on the future of cities? Considering that 2/3 of Canadians urban residents live in suburbs, we'd better hear their voice if we want to get the solutions right.
If you live in Sackville, Bedford, or any suburban Halifax community (or have an interest in those communities), you are invited to this roundtable. Your insight is crucial for the success of the We Are Cities campaign.
We Are Cities is a national campaign to make Canadian cities more livable. Groups across the country are holding roundtables to identify the best ideas to improve our cities, and to distill those into a single Canadian Cities Action Plan. The campaign will then work with all those people and groups who took part to make sure the ideas are implemented—a direct roadmap for turning ideas into reality. Roundtables have been held in every province, in cities such as Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa, Regina, Calgary, Saint John's, Summerside, Kitchener, and Vancouver.
A $2000 and $5000 “Community Innovation Grant” has also been established as part of the project to support local ideas that can be implemented directly. These funds will help close the gap between good ideas and action.
